Bandits Kill DPO in Katsina Ambush, Three Officers Injured

On Friday morning, an ambush by bandits in Katsina State resulted in the death of Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Sani Sagir and injuries to three police officers. The incident occurred in the Magaji Community, Majen Gobir Ward, within the Rimi Local Government Area.

The police team, led by Sagir, was responding to a distress call regarding cattle rustling around 10 AM when they encountered heavy gunfire from the assailants. DPO Sagir sustained critical injuries during the operation, while three officers, including a woman, were also wounded.

The attackers reportedly fled the scene, taking additional cattle with them. The injured officers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the assailants, as the community reels from the ambush and the loss of the police officer.
