Students Clash with Police Over Colleague's Death in Osun

On Wednesday, tensions escalated in Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State, as students from Interlink College of Health Technology clashed with police following the death of their colleague, Oluwaseun, a Diploma II student in Mass Communication. Oluwaseun was reportedly involved in a motorcycle accident on the Ijebu-Jesa-Esa-Oke road.

Video footage showed students confronting police officers at the scene, demanding that the driver involved in the accident be held accountable. Despite efforts to revive Oluwaseun, he succumbed to his injuries.

The situation intensified when students attempted to set the bus involved in the accident ablaze, prompting police to fire tear gas to disperse the crowd, which created panic in the area. In response to the unrest, the management of Interlink College announced a temporary closure of the institution to honor the deceased student, advising the community to remain calm and engage in prayers during this difficult time.

Academic activities are set to resume on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
