Students Protest in Osun After Classmate's Death

On Thursday, the Osun State Police Command confirmed the arrest of two individuals who allegedly attacked the Ijebu Jesa division headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force during a student protest. The unrest was triggered by the death of Oluwaseun, a student from the Mass Communication department at the Interlink College of Health Technology, who was killed in a road accident on Wednesday.

Following the incident, angry students clashed with police officers at the accident scene, demanding the release of the bus driver involved. The situation escalated as students attempted to set the bus on fire, prompting police to disperse them with tear gas.

The students later regrouped and confronted the police at the division headquarters, resulting in the assault on police personnel and damage to police vehicles. Abiodun Ojelabi, the police public relations officer, condemned the violent conduct of the students.

The deceased student was buried on Thursday in Iwo, Ijesa, Osun State, during a funeral attended by colleagues.
