Police Investigate Abduction of Ex-Minister's Sister

The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the abduction of Olaid Busayo Adegok John Paul, the younger sister of Bayo Adelabu, a former Minister and gubernatorial aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State. The incident took place on June 3, 2026, at approximately 7:30 AM in Ibadan, where armed gunmen forcibly took Olaid and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, while they were being dropped off at school.

Olaid is the youngest of five children of Olufunmilayo Aduk Adegok Adelabu, who served as a pension custodian at the Central Bank of Nigeria until her voluntary retirement last year. The police have assured the public that necessary resources will be deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State has directed a tactical team to proceed to the scene and recover the victims' vehicle, emphasizing the ongoing investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
