Police Arrest Five Suspected Cultists in Ondo State

On March 27, 2023, the Ondo State Police Command, led by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disrupted a cult gathering in Akungba Akoko, resulting in the arrest of five individuals. The operation was initiated after the command received credible intelligence from vigilant members of the public indicating that suspected cultists were converging at a residential building. The arrested suspects, identified as Adesuy Dare, M. Ayeerun, Joshua M. Ojo, Omol M. Adu, and Dele M. Akeju Idowu, were reportedly engaged in secret meetings, chanting cult-related slogans, and exhibiting behaviors consistent with cult activities, raising serious public safety concerns. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were members of the notorious Eiye confraternity, known for violent crimes and unlawful gatherings that threaten public peace. The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover a broader network and prevent further criminal activities. The police have urged the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
