Edo Police Arrest 65 Kidnappers, Recover 1.85 Million Naira

On March 2, 2026, at 02:45 hours, the Edo State Police Command executed a significant operation in Aviel, Edo North Senatorial District, resulting in the arrest of 65 suspects linked to kidnapping activities. The operation was carried out following credible intelligence reports about ongoing kidnapping operations in the area.

During the raid, police recovered incriminating items, including 1.85 million naira believed to be ransom money and uniforms associated with the Nigerian Army. No casualties were reported during the operation.

The suspects were moved to the state headquarters in Benin City for further investigation to ascertain their involvement in kidnapping activities. Mondai Agbonika, a representative of the police command, commended the professionalism of the operation and reiterated the commitment to dismantling kidnapping networks in the state while calling for public cooperation in the fight against crime.
