Delta Police Arrest Five in Major Crime Bust

On September 19, 2026, the Delta State Police Command conducted operations in Orerokpe, Ekpan, and Agbor, resulting in the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of numerous stolen items. The operations yielded four locally made single-barrelled guns, three vehicles, three motorcycles, and various household appliances, including 22 air-conditioners and 13 washing machines.

Bright Edafe, the command’s Public Relations Officer, reported that operatives from the Orerokpe Division, in collaboration with the Civilian Anti-Cult group, intercepted two Toyota Sienna vehicles loaded with musical equipment on the Warri-Sapele Road. One occupant, 45-year-old Lawrence Onowenakpo, was arrested and identified Ajeh Zephaniah, the alleged gang leader.

Further investigations led to a scrap yard in Warri, where additional stolen items were recovered. In a separate incident in Ekpan, 23-year-old Meshach Onovoisa was arrested with a firearm.

Three men from Benin City were also apprehended while attempting to sell a minibus without documentation.
