Nigeria Police Force recovers 52 vehicles, arrests 177 criminals

Between September 12 and 18, 2026, the Nigeria Police Force recovered 52 stolen vehicles and arrested 177 high-profile criminal suspects across the country. Chief Superintendent of Police Ani Iniedu disclosed these figures during a weekly operational briefing.

The operations led to the rescue of 25 kidnapped victims, the recovery of 38 assorted firearms, and 2,578 rounds of live ammunition. Notably, 11 high-profile armed suspects were neutralized.

Significant operations included dismantling kidnapping camps in Kaduna State, where four kidnappers were neutralized, and 12 suspects were arrested, resulting in the rescue of two victims. In Imo State, police dislodged a camp linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra’s armed wing, recovering an AK-47 rifle and a hand grenade.

Other operations included rescuing three women in Katsina State and arresting four suspects in Delta State for an online abduction scheme. The operations reflect the Force's commitment to combating criminal networks nationwide.
