Rivers Police Recover Stolen Vehicle After Five Years

The Rivers State Police Command successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Highlander that had been missing for nearly five years. The vehicle, with registration number FH823PHC and engine number 1MZ 11433787, was reported stolen on September 17, 2021, from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, belonging to Mr.

Cecilia Duru. The recovery occurred following a routine vehicle verification exercise conducted by the Rivers State Police Command in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service.

This operation, which began on June 8, 2026, uncovered discrepancies in vehicle data. Further investigations revealed that the vehicle had crossed into Niger Republic and was subsequently brought back to Nigeria on October 17, 2025, after being sold in Kaduna State.

The police are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend those involved in the vehicle's theft and movement across state and international borders.
