Osun SSG Teslim Igbalaiye Released After Police Arrest

Teslim Igbalaiye, the Secretary to the Osun State Government, was released by the Osun State Police Command after being arrested during a police operation at his residence in Osogbo. His release was confirmed on Thursday by Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, who expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Osun State Commissioner of Police for addressing public concerns regarding the arrest.

The police had conducted the raid based on intelligence reports suggesting that criminal elements were operating from Igbalaiye's residence. Alongside Igbalaiye, five others were arrested, including Oladele Abiodun, who was on the police's watchlist for alleged criminal offences.

The police recovered N4,810,500 in cash, a laptop, a photocopy machine, a printer, two Permanent Voter Cards, and a voter register. Investigations are ongoing to determine if any suspects will face charges related to electoral offences.

The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, alleged that the arrest was politically motivated, a claim the police dismissed.
