Oyo Police Rescue Abducted Teenager, Pursue Kidnappers

On August 5, 2026, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, a 17-year-old boy, was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Aladere Village, near Ikoyi-Ile, Oyo State. His father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, reported the incident to the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters, prompting a swift response from the Oyo State Police Command.

The Divisional Police Officer mobilized a joint team consisting of police operatives, personnel from the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters to conduct a search-and-rescue operation. The team carried out an intensive search of the surrounding bushes and the adjoining Government Reserve Forest, which pressured the kidnappers to abandon the victim.

Daneri was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family. The police are continuing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects through intelligence-led operations.

Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, praised the collaboration and professionalism of all security personnel involved and reassured the public of the command's commitment to combating violent crime.
