Oyo Police Rescue Abducted Children, Arrest Four Suspects

On June 28, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command successfully rescued two abducted children in Lanlat, Ibarapa East Local Government Area. Following reports of the abduction, Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga directed a mobilization of police divisions, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilante groups to conduct a bush combing operation.

The joint security team located the kidnappers' hideout in a forest, leading to a gunfight where the suspects opened fire. One suspect, Umaru Usman, aged 25, sustained a gunshot wound during the exchange.

Four suspects were arrested: Abdullahi Ahm, 28, who also sustained injuries, Sunday Idowu, 30, and Muham Ibrahim Shina, 29, who was reportedly traveling from Ilorin, Kwara State to participate in the abduction. The rescued children were taken for medical attention and successfully reunited with their families.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network.
