Oyo Police Rescue Abducted Children, Arrest Kidnap Gang

On June 28, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command successfully rescued two abducted children from Ebinpejo Village in Ibarapa East Local Government Area. Following a distress report, a coordinated operation involving the police, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilante hunters was initiated under the direction of Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga.

The operation led to a confrontation with the abductors, resulting in a gun duel where suspect Umaru Usman, aged 25, sustained a gunshot wound. Four suspects were arrested, including Abdullahi Ahm, 28, and Sunday Idowu, 30, who were found with injuries believed to be from the exchange of gunfire.

The police recovered mobile phones and sophisticated firearms during the operation. The victims were safely reunited with their families and received medical attention for injuries sustained during their ordeal.

The police confirmed ongoing investigations to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network.
