Police Rescue Five Passengers, 13 Still Abducted in Benue

On Wednesday night, an attack occurred along the Makurdi-Otukpo road, resulting in the abduction of 18 passengers, including the driver. Benue State Police Commissioner Ifeanyi Emenari reported that five of the abducted passengers have been rescued, while 13 remain in captivity.

During the incident, three passengers were not taken by the abductors, and two managed to escape. Emenari confirmed that the police are intensifying efforts to rescue the remaining victims and have assured the public of their commitment to eliminating criminal elements in the state.

The police operations are set to continue until all victims are recovered, with a focus on flushing out criminals from the bush areas. The police are also preparing to address security concerns as the farming season approaches, which typically sees increased tensions between farmers and herders in the region.
