Police Rescue 13 Abducted Passengers in Benue State

On April 15, 2026, a kidnapping incident involving 18 passengers occurred in Benue State, specifically along the route to Otukpo. The Nigeria Police Force successfully executed a coordinated clearance operation in the Amla Forest corridor, leading to the rescue of the remaining 13 victims, which included eight students traveling for their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The operation was driven by credible intelligence, and the police had previously rescued five victims. In total, 18 passengers were involved in the incident.

During the operation, seven suspects were arrested, three of whom were identified as members of the kidnapping syndicate. The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, commended the Benue State command for their bravery and professionalism in executing the rescue mission.

The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and urged the public to provide credible information to aid ongoing operations.
