Police Rescue Kidnapped Toddler, Arrest Suspect in Delta

On May 18, 2026, the Delta State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnapped toddler in Ughelli. The child was abducted by a motorcyclist while being taken to school.

Following the abduction, the suspect demanded a ransom of N500,000 from the family. After negotiations, the family paid the ransom to secure the child's release.

Utilizing technical intelligence, the police's anti-vice squad stormed the suspect's hideout in Ughelli, leading to the arrest of the alleged kidnapper. During the operation, the police recovered N127,000, which was part of the ransom paid by the family.

Additionally, valuable items allegedly purchased with the ransom money were also recovered. The suspect is currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing, with charges expected to be filed in court.
