Police Rescue Two-Year-Old from Kidnapper in Delta

On May 10, 2026, the Delta State Police Command successfully rescued a two-year-old child from a suspected kidnapper, identified as Fejiro Obaduemu, aged 29, at Igbudu Market in Warri. The police's Quick Response Squad intervened after the suspect raised suspicion by carrying the child concealed in a sack bag.

A mob attempted to lynch Obaduemu, but police arrived swiftly to evacuate him and the child safely. According to police spokesman Bright Edaf, the suspect sustained injuries during the mob attack and was taken to a clinic for medical attention before being placed in custody for further investigation.

Subsequent investigations conducted on May 11, 2026, led to the successful tracing of the child's parents, and a formal reunion occurred in the presence of community leaders. Preliminary investigations revealed that Obaduemu allegedly confessed to stealing the child for an unidentified person, prompting ongoing efforts to arrest accomplices and uncover a wider network involved in child trafficking.

State Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities involving children.
