Delta Police Arrest 86, Rescue 18 Kidnap Victims

Between April and June 2026, the Delta State Police Command arrested 86 suspects and rescued 18 victims of kidnapping. Police Commissioner Yemi Oyeniyi disclosed these details during a second-quarter briefing in Asaba.

The suspects were apprehended for various offenses, including kidnapping, cultism, murder, armed robbery, and drug trafficking. Out of the 86 suspects, 46 have been charged in court, while 30 others are still under investigation.

The police command recovered 32 firearms and 197 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, along with 219 live cartridges during various operations within this period. Additionally, seven suspects involved in drug dealing were arrested, with five already arraigned in court.

The command seized various illicit substances, including tramadol, codeine, rohypnol, and cannabis. Oyeniyi attributed these achievements to intelligence-led policing and assured residents of the command's commitment to ensuring safety and tackling crime across the state.
