Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim in Enugu, Neutralize Suspect

On Friday, the Enugu State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnapped female victim and neutralized a suspect in Udenu Local Government Area. The operation was initiated following credible information received about the abduction, which occurred at approximately 3:30 PM within the Ezimo Community.

Police spokesman Daniel Ndukw disclosed that the operation was conducted under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitru Giwa, and involved a joint security team comprising police operatives, soldiers from the Nigerian Army, and neighborhood watch members. The team tracked the suspect to Agu Orba Forest along the Oheb Orba axis.

Upon sighting the operatives, the suspect opened fire, prompting a response that resulted in the neutralization of the suspect, while others fled with varying degrees of gunshot wounds. The victim was successfully rescued unharmed and reunited with her family.

Recovered items included five rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition, a long machete, a short dagger, four mobile phones, four torch lights, two power banks, two memory cards, and assorted food items, totaling 51,700 Naira.
