Lagos Police Confirm Blast in Mushin Not Terror-Related

The Lagos State Police Command has officially ruled out terrorism and explosives as the cause of a blast that occurred in the Mushin area of Lagos on June 22. SP Abimbola Adebisi disclosed that initial reports suggested a possible explosive incident, leading to widespread panic among residents.

However, technical findings revealed no traces of explosive materials or detonating systems. The investigation concluded that the incident resulted from a catastrophic failure of a pressure mechanism located outside an affected vehicle, which caused a sudden release of energy that shattered the front passenger side glass panel of the vehicle, inflicting minor injuries on its occupants.

The police classified the incident as a mechanical explosion rather than an act of terrorism. Following the event, CP Tijani Fatai visited the site and assured residents that there was no ongoing threat to security in the area.
