Lagos CP Fatai Tijani Visits Explosion Site in Mushin

On Monday, Fatai Tijani, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, visited the scene of an explosion at the Shoe Material Market in Mushin, Lagos, to reassure residents about their safety. The explosion involved a suspect improvised explosive device that triggered panic in the busy market.

Following the incident, security agencies responded immediately, cordoning off the area to prevent further danger. The police operation included personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, which conducted a thorough search of the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the explosive device was planted beneath a vehicle parked within the market and detonated when the engine started. One person sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital, where they are in stable condition.

Tijani emphasized that no additional explosive devices were discovered during the EOD operations and urged traders and residents to remain calm, dismissing rumors of a wider security threat as false and misleading. The police command continues to monitor developments and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
