Nigeria Police Sanction 10 Officers Over Social Media Violations

Anemena Favour, a female officer based in Asaba, Delta State, was demoted from sergeant to corporal for live broadcasting on TikTok while dressed in police uniform, contravening regulations.

The officers faced penalties ranging from severe reprimands to demobilization. The Force's social media policy prohibits unauthorized use of social media by officers, with strict rules on identification and content sharing.

The sanctions aim to prevent future violations and enhance officers' awareness of social media guidelines. Efforts to reach police public relations officials in Delta State and Benue State were unsuccessful, raising concerns about officers' social media conduct and the need for disciplinary measures.
