Police Seal ACF Headquarters Amid Leadership Crisis

On May 5, 2026, police sealed the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) headquarters located along Sokoto Road in Kaduna, blocking access to members of the National Executive Council (NEC) who were set to meet under the leadership of Barrister Mamman Mike Osuman. This emergency meeting was called amidst a leadership crisis within the ACF, where allegations of mismanagement of N3.9 billion in donations and lack of transparency had surfaced.

The police action was taken to prevent a potential breakdown of law and order, as two factions within the ACF sought to hold meetings simultaneously. The ACF's Board of Trustees, led by Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, had issued a counter statement claiming the NEC meeting was unconstitutional.

The situation escalated following a statement from General Haliru Akilu, the retired chairman of the leadership selection committee, which suggested that the tenure of the current board and NEC members had ended. Calls for intervention from prominent northern leaders, including Sultan Sokoto, were made to resolve the crisis.
