Police Secure Akwa Ibom PDP Secretariat Amid Leadership Crisis

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faced a crisis as security operatives took over the party's secretariat following the refusal of the Elder Aniekan Akpan-led State Executive Council to heed a dissolution order from the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP. The NWC had directed the dissolution of the Akwa Ibom State Exco pending new elections.

Security operatives, numbering 15, restricted access to the secretariat, allowing only authorized personnel entry. The embattled chairman, Akpan, addressed journalists amidst tight security at the party office, highlighting the internal turmoil within the state's PDP leadership.
