PDP Faces Rift Over Akwa Ibom Executive Dissolution Ahead of Convention

Tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated as the national leadership's decision to dissolve the party executive in Akwa Ibom State faced resistance. The national secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, rejected the dissolution, declaring it null and void.

Anyanwu's stance contradicted the announcement made by the national publicity secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba. The conflicting directives highlighted a rift in the party's leadership, with disputes also arising over the conduct of congresses in other states.

These internal conflicts emerged ahead of the party's national convention scheduled to take place in Oyo State in November. The disagreement over the Akwa Ibom executive dissolution underscored broader challenges within the PDP.
