Nigerian Police Uncover N7.7bn Telecom Fraud, Arrest Six Suspects

The Nigerian Police Force uncovered a N7.7 billion telecom fraud involving cyber-enabled telecommunications fraud. Six suspects were arrested for illegally diverting airtime and data belonging to telecom companies.

The suspects allegedly gained unauthorized access to the companies' systems, resulting in significant financial losses. The arrests were made following investigations into suspicious activities within the companies' infrastructure.

The suspects were apprehended in Kano, Katsina State, and the Federal Capital Territory, with items linked to the crime, including laptops, mobile phones, and a vehicle, recovered. The police recovered a substantial amount of money linked to the suspects' accounts.

The Inspector General of Police commended the officers involved and emphasized the commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's digital and financial ecosystem.
