Ogun Police Dismantle Baby Factory, Rescue Victims

On 24th August 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., operatives from the Ogun State Police Command conducted an intelligence-led operation in Abaren Village, Mowe, dismantling an illegal baby factory syndicate. The operation resulted in the rescue of two heavily pregnant women, Ilesanmi Foluke (23) and Ejekwa Melody (20), along with four children.

Six suspects were arrested: Florence Ogbona (58), Magdalene Julius (63), Chidike Egwuonwu (40), Onyechu Chidike (35), Stephen Ogbona (39), and nurse Oseni Idaya. The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the facility had been involved in human trafficking and illegal adoption activities.

Further investigations led to a hospital where another victim, Blessing Bright Effiong (26), had given birth on 20th August 2026, but the newborn was missing. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further action and prosecution of those involved.
