Police Arrest Five in Anambra Community Leader's Murder

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has made significant progress in the investigation of the murder of Emmanuel Nwanneniya, the former chairman and land agent of Ikem Nando community in Anambra State, by arresting five suspects allegedly involved in the crime. These arrests followed extensive intelligence gathering, digital surveillance, and coordinated operations by the Force Intelligence Department’s Special Tactical Squad (STS).

Investigations uncovered that a restricted veterinary sedative, S.P.L. Ketamine Hydrochloride 500mg/10ml, was procured and used in the murder.

The case is linked to a long-standing community land dispute over the sharing of proceeds from the sale of community land, where one clan received approximately N39 million. While most community members agreed to invest the funds in developmental projects, a faction opposed this, leading to hostility and threats against supporters of the initiative.

Nwanneniya was allegedly lured to his death under the guise of negotiating a land sale.
