Kogi State Police Launch Violent Crime Response Unit

On Thursday, the Kogi State Police Command inaugurated a Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in Lokoja, aimed at addressing the rising incidents of violent crime in the state. The ceremony was led by the state police commissioner, Bello Kankarofi, who acknowledged the support of the Kogi State government in making the project a reality.

The VCRU is part of a broader initiative under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu, focusing on proactive policing and rapid response to violent crimes. The unit will conduct intelligence-led operations, enhance surveillance, and improve inter-agency collaboration to manage security effectively.

Personnel selected for the unit underwent thorough screening and assessment to meet professional standards. The VCRU will operate in tactical uniforms, including black combat attire and berets, reflecting discipline and readiness.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the Kogi State government to strengthen security infrastructure and enhance public safety throughout the state.
