Lagos Police Enhance VCRU with New Base and Equipment

On Wednesday, the Lagos State Police Command inaugurated an upgraded base for its Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) located at Ijora Olopa, behind the LAWMA office. The event was presided over by Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai and supported by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), which provided five operational vehicles, 1,200 raincoats, and 1,000 pairs of operational boots.

The VCRU, established under Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, serves as a rapid response team for violent crime intelligence-led operations. During the ceremony, CP Fatai emphasized the importance of collaboration among government, security agencies, and residents in crime prevention.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the continuous investment in police infrastructure, which significantly enhances the command's ability to respond swiftly to security threats. The event attracted various dignitaries, including traditional rulers and security stakeholders.
