Lagos Police Withdraw Task Force from Traffic Duties

The Lagos State Police Command has issued a directive for the immediate withdrawal of the Lagos State Environment Sanitation Special Offence Unit, known as the task force, from traffic enforcement duties across the state. This decision, communicated by Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai, is part of ongoing efforts to streamline traffic management and ensure that appropriate agencies handle road-related enforcement.

The police public relations officer, Abimbola Adebisi, emphasized that while the task force will no longer be involved in traffic operations, it will continue to perform its statutory functions without interruption. Adebisi cautioned the public against assuming that every officer associated with the task force belongs to the Lagos State Environment Sanitation Special Offence Unit and urged motorists to verify the identities of enforcement personnel.
