Policeman Arrested Over Death of Three-Month-Old in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a police officer in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area. The officer's identity has not been disclosed due to ongoing investigations.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the command, announced that a full-scale investigation has commenced to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure justice is served. The Commissioner of Police, Ikioy Orutugu, expressed deep regret over the unfortunate event and extended condolences to the family of the deceased child.

He assured the public that the command would handle the matter transparently and professionally. The officer involved is currently undergoing interrogation as part of the administrative procedures in line with the Nigeria Police Force's disciplinary process.

The command urged the public to remain calm and avoid actions that could incite tension, emphasizing that no individual would be shielded from justice if found culpable. Further developments regarding the investigation will be communicated accordingly.
