Policeman Killed, 13 Injured in Taraba State Attacks

In Taraba State, a policeman was killed and 13 others sustained injuries during violent attacks attributed to gunmen in Gembu, Sardauna Local Government Area. The attacks occurred on a Sunday, with reports indicating that herders killed 10 farmers and injured others during clashes in Pangri Village, Bali Local Government Area.

The conflict reportedly began when farmers invited police to arrest herders whose cattle were allegedly destroying their crops. The herders resisted arrest, resulting in the shooting of a police officer, which sparked reprisals.

Following the violence, the Sardauna Local Government Council imposed a night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM until further notice, as stated by Eric Mathew Vakud, the council's Director of Administration and General Services. The council chairman, Hon J.

Umar, approved the curfew to protect lives and property. The clashes also led to serious injuries among farmers and the destruction of homes, prompting police deployment to restore order.
