Taraba LG Imposes Curfew Amid Rising Violence and Attacks

The Taraba Local Government has declared a 24-hour curfew in response to rising attacks that have left several people dead and forced residents to flee their homes. The decision, made by Council Chairperson Virginia Baba Bambur, comes after a series of violent incidents in the Karim Lamido area, particularly affecting the Wurkum community.

The curfew aims to restore peace and stability following these attacks, which have been attributed to militia groups and ethnic tensions. Bambur directed security agencies, including the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force, to enforce strict compliance with the curfew and conduct thorough investigations into the root causes of the violence.

She urged residents to remain calm as efforts to restore peace are ongoing, highlighting the need for justice for the affected communities.
