Thugs Disrupt NDC Congress in Enugu Amid Defections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Congress held in Enugu was disrupted by political thugs, causing significant disorder among party members who had gathered at the Aborigen Hall. The incident occurred shortly after a motion was raised to dissolve the protem state working committee, which prompted the emergence of the thugs.

This disruption followed the recent defection of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to the NDC. The congress eventually proceeded, resulting in the appointment of Dr.

Johnpaul Anih as the new state chairman of the NDC. Anih, who previously served as a special assistant for youth affairs under former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, emerged victorious in the state congress held on Monday in Enugu.
