INEC Promises Transparent 2027 Elections in Kwara State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured that the 2027 general elections will reflect the wishes of Kwara State residents. Dr.

Adejumo Peter, Head of Voters Education and Publicity at INEC Kwara, criticized politicians for stockpiling Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), stating they are outdated in their approach to securing electoral victory. He emphasized that INEC will ensure a "one man, one vote" principle and urged politicians to campaign ethically and accept election outcomes.

At the seminar organized by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ilorin, Atata Abdulfatai, Head of the Legal Unit at INEC, described the amended Electoral Act 2026 as a transformative moment for Nigeria’s electoral framework. He noted that the Act introduces reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and strengthening internal party democracy, while also raising critical legal questions regarding campaign finance and election petitions.

The success of these reforms will depend on their implementation and judicial interpretation.
