Ribadu Warns Politicians Against Violence Ahead of FCT, Rivers, Kano Polls

Hassan Abdullahi Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, issued a warning to politicians with violent tendencies ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Rivers, and Kano elections. He urged them to refrain from undermining the electoral process.

Ribadu emphasized the readiness of security agencies to handle any disruptive activities by political thugs during the upcoming polls. The warning was given during a meeting organized by the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security in Abuja, in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the February 21 elections.

Ribadu also highlighted the importance of political parties, candidates, and citizens conducting themselves responsibly to uphold the sanctity of the democratic process. He commended the media, civil society organizations, community leaders, and citizens for their role in safeguarding Nigeria's democracy.

Ribadu praised the successful conduct of the Anambra governorship election and lauded security agencies for maintaining peace and order during the exercise, reflecting President Bola Tinubu's commitment to free, fair, and violence-free elections.
