Ribadu Warns Against Vote Buying and Thuggery Ahead of Rivers, Kano Elections

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, a security advisor, issued a strong warning against vote buying and political thuggery ahead of the upcoming elections in Rivers, Kano, and the FCT. He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards violence and manipulation of the voting process.

Ribadu highlighted the Nigerian Police Force's role in leading security operations and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to ensure peaceful elections. He urged media, civil society, and citizens to work together to safeguard Nigeria's democracy.

The INEC chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, stressed the need for improved intelligence gathering and coordination among security agencies to prevent election-related violence.

The Nigerian Police Force reassured full security provision for the elections, emphasizing the protection of INEC officials and materials during the polls. The recent peaceful Anambra governorship election was cited as a model for future elections, including those in Rivers, Kano, and the FCT, as well as upcoming gubernatorial and general elections in Ekiti, Osun, and beyond.
