Seyi Makinde Blames Power Supply Issues for Diesel Streetlights

Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde, also the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), stated that poor electricity supply from the national grid has necessitated the use of diesel-powered generators for streetlights in Oyo State. He made this remark on Monday at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Ibadan, where he received thousands of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the APM.

Makinde criticized the federal government's failure to provide constant electricity, asserting that the state could not leave its streets in darkness due to national grid inadequacies. He urged the APC governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, to focus on the upcoming 2027 elections and engage with APM's candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, instead of criticizing his administration.

Makinde welcomed the defectors, led by Sangogade, as a sign of growing support for the APM ahead of the elections, expressing confidence in a significant victory in 2027.
