Pope Reacts to Deadly Attacks in Nigeria, Urges Enhanced Citizen Protection Efforts

Pope Francis reacts to violent attacks in Nigeria, expressing sorrow and offering prayers for the victims of terrorism and communal violence. The attacks occurred in different parts of Nigeria, particularly in Kwara and Katsina states.

Gunmen launched deadly assaults in Woro village in Kwara State, setting shops ablaze, torching residences, and creating panic among residents who fled to nearby bushes to escape the violence. In Katsina State, the attacks occurred in Doma community in the Faskari local government area, resulting in the reported deaths of 20 people.

The assailants, suspected to be bandits, stormed the community, opening fire and causing mass casualties as residents fled the area. The incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, with the Pope calling for intensified efforts to protect citizens from such violent attacks.
