Ex-Adult Film Star Amaranta Hank Becomes Colombian Senator

Deyci Alejandra Omaña Ortiz, widely recognized by her stage name Amaranta Hank, was sworn in as a senator in Colombia after winning a seat in the March 2022 parliamentary elections. She will represent the Norte de Santander region as a member of the leftist Historic Pact coalition for the 2026–2030 legislative term.

Ortiz secured her Senate seat by ranking 23rd on the coalition’s closed candidate list, which performed strongly in the elections, leading to the coalition becoming the largest political force in the Senate with 22.72 percent of the total vote and 25 seats. Ortiz's election has sparked public debate due to her previous career in the adult entertainment industry, where she gained international recognition.

She has pledged to advocate for the rights and legal protections of workers in this sector, arguing that they contribute to the economy and deserve recognition. Ortiz addressed her critics through a TikTok video, questioning why her past should hinder her public service aspirations.
