Power Outage Affects Abuja and Nasarawa Areas

On June 10, 2026, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) announced a power outage affecting parts of Abuja and Nasarawa State. This outage was caused by a technical fault in the Transmission Company of Nigeria's (TCN) 132kV Apo-Karu line, disrupting bulk electricity supply to several areas.

The affected locations included Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba, Ado, New Nyanya, New Karu, Uk, Masaka, Auta, Balaifi, Keffi, Toto, Akwanga, and Nasarawa Eggon. AEDC assured residents that efforts were ongoing to restore power, with technical teams from TCN working on the issue.

The company expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and appreciated the patience of the residents. This outage occurred amid Nigeria's longstanding electricity crisis, where demand consistently outstrips supply.
