Nigeria's NESI Week 2026 to Promote Clean Energy Transition

Power stakeholders in Nigeria's electricity sector are calling for enhanced accountability and a shift towards clean energy solutions. The Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) is set to launch NESI Week 2026, scheduled for November 15-22 in Abuja, which aims to tackle persistent challenges in the sector and foster sustainable collaboration among regulators, operators, policymakers, and investors.

Obiorah Anthony, the chairman of NESI, emphasized the need for stronger institutional collaboration and innovative pathways for policy implementation. The sector has faced significant issues since its privatization in 2013, including a fragile operational state, revenue shortfalls, and a wide meter gap.

NESI Week will integrate five key pillars, including a CEO policy forum and an award event, to ensure accountability and stimulate solutions-driven dialogue. Additionally, the NESI Games 2026 will be Nigeria's first fully carbon-measured corporate multi-sport event, aligning with global sustainability standards and establishing a transparent carbon accounting framework.
