Tinubu Appoints Dr. Fatima Zuntu as NBMA Director-General

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially appointed Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA).

This appointment is effective from April 16, 2026, and will last for a term of four years. The announcement was made in a statement issued on April 20, 2026, and signed by Chris Ugwuegbulam, the Head of the Public Relations Office in the Federal Government.

The appointment was made in accordance with Section 5 of the National Biosafety Management Agency Act of 2015. Dr.

Zuntu is recognized as a public health expert and policy strategist, having built a reputation for implementing impactful national initiatives. President Tinubu has urged Dr.

Zuntu to leverage her experience to strengthen biosafety regulations and effectively drive the agency's mandate to protect public health and the environment.
