Nigeria's Ambassador Presents Credentials to Qatar's Amir

On July 2, 2026, Ambassador Mahmud Yakubu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Qatar, formally presented his letters of credence to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, at the Amiri Diwan in Doha. The ceremony included a full diplomatic honor, featuring an inspection of the guard of honor.

Following the presentation, Ambassador Yakubu held a private audience with the Amir, who welcomed him cordially and reaffirmed the enduring bilateral ties between Qatar and Nigeria. The Amir referenced previous high-level diplomatic exchanges and expressed Qatar's intent to deepen cooperation with Nigeria.

Ambassador Yakubu conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the Amir and the people of Qatar. He also expressed condolences regarding a recent accident in Ra Laffan Industrial City, emphasizing the need to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, education, security, and humanitarian affairs.
