Nigeria's Ambassador Presents Credentials to Dutch King

On June 24, 2026, Ambassador Mohammed Idris Haidara, the Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, formally presented his letters of credence to His Majesty, King Willem-Alexander, at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague. This ceremony marked the official commencement of Ambassador Haidara's duties.

During the presentation, he conveyed the best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the King and affirmed the shared relationship between Nigeria and the Netherlands, which is built on mutual respect and aims to blossom in trade. Ambassador Haidara highlighted the commitment of both nations to multilateral cooperation in agriculture, renewable energy, maritime security, and the pursuit of justice, emphasizing a trajectory of sustainable growth and development.

The ceremony included a royal escort and a military band, which honored the occasion with a salute and the national anthem of Nigeria. Following the formal presentation, there was a brief bilateral discussion between the ambassador and the King.
