Presidency Criticizes Atiku's Fuel Subsidy Promise

The Presidency has condemned Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for his recent promise to consider restoring the fuel subsidy removed by President Bola Tinubu if elected in 2027. In a statement, presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare characterized Atiku's pledge as “hypocrisy and deceit,” asserting that it represents an attempt to manipulate Nigerians ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Dare stated, “Your pronouncement that you will bring back fuel subsidy is drenched in hypocrisy and deceit. It is an unpardonable manipulation of the public psyche, designed to hoodwink unsuspecting Nigerians into voting for you.” He further warned that the ongoing recovery across various sectors of the nation would be adversely affected if Atiku's proposal were implemented, expressing confidence that it would not materialize and urging “all good men of conscience” to oppose Atiku's stance.
