Tinubu's Presidency Confirms His Health During Vacation

The Presidency has clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is "hale and hearty," attributing his absence from Nigeria to a working vacation. Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, stated that Tinubu is engaged in official duties while away from Abuja and is entitled to his annual vacation.

Onanuga emphasized that in the digital age, the president does not need to be physically present in Abuja to fulfill his responsibilities. He highlighted Tinubu's recent work, including facilitating a $7 billion deep-sea port project in Ogun Waterside.

The statement also contrasted Tinubu's absence with that of other African leaders, such as South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who also missed the UN General Assembly without public outcry. Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria this week to celebrate the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary and honor MKO Abiola by attending a movie premiere in his memory in Lagos.
