Presidency Reacts As PDP Govs Accuse FG Of Intimidation In By-Elections

The Presidency has responded to accusations by PDP Governors of intimidation during recent by-elections to fill vacant senatorial and House of Representatives seats. The exercise, marred by violence and low voter turnout, saw APC win 12 seats, while PDP secured one, Progressives Grand Alliance two, and New Nigeria Peoples Party clinched one.

The PDP Governors Forum alleged excessive deployment of security forces and widespread irregularities, commending party members for their loyalty in the face of intimidation. In response, the Presidency dismissed the claims as baseless, with a Senior Special Assistant stating that the opposition is trying to explain away poor performance.

The Presidency argued that the opposition was allowed to campaign and vote freely, with security agencies protecting candidates. The PDP was described as being in total disarray, with the administration remaining focused on repositioning the economy despite distractions.
