Presidency Urges Atiku to Focus on Campaign Proposals

The Presidency, represented by Dr. Sunday Dare, responded to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), advising him to present his economic proposals on the campaign trail instead of dictating governance to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. During a press briefing in Abuja, Atiku had called for immediate measures to reduce petrol prices, referencing past subsidy removals.

Dare criticized Atiku for addressing the President informally as "Bola," which he deemed disrespectful. He stated that opposition politics does not grant a candidate the authority to issue directives to an incumbent President.

Dare emphasized that Atiku should focus on persuading voters with his policies rather than issuing instructions. He defended President Tinubu's economic reforms as necessary structural changes to address long-standing economic issues, asserting that transient discomfort does not negate the need for reform.
